Therapy for Anxiety

If you're navigating the challenging terrain of anxiety, know that you're not alone.

Anxiety can manifest as a complex interplay of thoughts, feelings and sensations encompassing fear, uneasiness, and worry. It might sound like, "I know something bad is going to happen to me" or "It feels like my heart is pounding out of my chest." You may feel a knot in your stomach or find yourself holding your breath.

Anxiety is a natural and adaptive response that the body and mind experience in the face of perceived threats or stressors. Occasional anxiety is a normal and healthy part of life. It can be helpful in certain situations, such as alerting us to potential dangers. Excessive or chronic anxiety can be problematic and impact every aspect of life.

Relief is possible, and I can help.

Together, we create a space where you feel safe to express your thoughts and feelings - a space where everything is welcome and honoured. We’ll embark on a process of closely examining the experience, however it manifests. We’ll identify coping strategies that will help you to feel calmer and more in the moment. Our exploration involves body sensations, imagery, and movements, immersing ourselves in the language of the body and fostering a deeper connection with the experiences that often elude words. This insight can lead you to uncover new perspectives and potential ways of resolution.

By gathering information from the body, we step away from analysis, rationalization, and overthinking, which often fuels the anxiety loop. You can take a step back from anxiety and see it for what it is.

With an enhanced emotional and somatic awareness, anxiety will no longer dictate your behaviour or thoughts. Instead it’ll be a signal giving you the capacity to respond vs react. Through the process, you'll gain valuable skills to calm your nervous system and uncover supportive resources. Identifying triggers and setting boundaries will become integral to your journey.

This heightened awareness will empower you with more choices and build greater trust in your body, boosting your confidence along the way.
